has over 40 years of aviation law experience, as a senior in-house airline and aircraft transactional lawyer, and as a partner in a major law firm.
Mr. Buhler was a member of the legal department of Pan American World Airways from 1976 until 1996, holding a number of positions including Vice President – Legal. He thereafter served as Vice President & General Counsel of Kiwi International Airlines and Western Pacific Airlines. Following his airline service Mr. Buhler became Assistant General Counsel of Unicapital Air Group, a major aircraft sales and leasing company. From 2000 to 2006 Mr. Buhler was a partner with Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis in its New York office, and a member of its Aviation Practice Group. Mr. Buhler currently maintains his law office in Cold Spring, NY, limiting his practice to aviation matters.
Mr. Buhler has extensive expertise in all aspects of airline and aviation law, including aircraft transactions such as aircraft purchase, lease and finance arrangements, commercial agreements, facilities and industry/interline agreements, bankruptcy, labor, litigation, and regulatory matters. He has represented several domestic and foreign airlines and aircraft leasing companies, corporate flight departments, fractional; owners, maintenance repair organizations, the International Air Transport Association, and the Air Transport Association of America.
Mr. Buhler is admitted to practice in New York, before a number of federal courts, the U.S. Claims Court, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has lectured extensively and has written a number of articles on aviation and bankruptcy matters.
Mr. Buhler received his Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra Law School, where he was a member of the Hofstra Law Review. He received his B.A. undergraduate degree from C.W. Post College.
